HONGKONG : HK DISNEYLAND PARK

You must be familiar with the pastel colored castles below, this is a castle from the Disneyland park. This palace is the icon of the Disneyland Park that everyone can easily remember. Me and Michelle call it a Mickey Mouse house. Although our daughter only knows some characters from Disneyland, but she looks very enthusiastic.

We visit Disneyland Hongkong, which is the smallest Disney playground in comparison to Disneyland parks in some other countries. This is our first time visiting Disneyland.

How to get to Disneyland park Hongkong?
For tourists that using public transport which is trains (MTR), you can go to Sunny Bay station and change your train here. You can see on the map below there is a picture of the Disney's character Mickey mouse. Your destination will be in the Disneyland Resort station.

You just have to cross the train car across after you get off from the train at Sunny Bay station. Follow the instructions below. There are many officers showing the way to the Disneyland Resort station.

Trains carrying passengers to Disneyland Resort are decorated with Disney characters.

The train handle is decorated with the face shape of the Mickey mouse and also the train windows.

Decorations in the form of Disney character sculptures like Donald Duck, Pluto, etc.

This is our last stop at Disneyland Resort station.

There is an entrance gate of the Disneyland Resort Hong Kong, tourist often took a picture in this place. But do not stop here for so long, because many rides are waiting for you.

After walking a little further, there is a statue of Mickey surfing on jet stream from Monstro the Whale. Before entering the ticket counter and the park entrance, the officer will check each of our bags first for safety.

Upon entering you will be greeted with the Mickey plant decor below. Right behind it is a train station that takes passengers to the Fantasyland area. The name of this train station is Hong Kong Disneyland Railroad.

The weather at that time was not friendly. Although we came during the summer holidays, there were some rain that kept coming and going. The rain was unpredictable and it will start and stop very quickly too. This happens repeatedly and subsides around noon time.

There are few areas in this Disneyland Park :
1. Main Street, U.S.A
2. Adventureland
3. Grizzly Gulch
4. Mystic Point
5. Toy Story Land
6. Fantasyland
7. Tomorrowland
8. The Pavilion

As you can see below is the main street that is located behind the train station. This place is called Main Street, U.S.A. There is no rides in this area, there are only places to shop, cafe, bakery, photo shoot with Disney characters.

There are some schedules to take pictures with Disney characters and located at different point in this area, click here for a schedule to take pictures with Disney characters. You have to wait in line to get a photo shoot. The length of the queue depends on the character itself. Of course the longest queue is their Disney main character Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse located in Town Hall on Main Street, U.S.A.

There will be photographers who will help you capture your photos through their DSLR cameras, but you have to redeem them in the photo printing area. In addition they will also help you capture your photos using your own camera, you have to be a camera ready when they help you to capture with your own camera.

To redeem the photo you will be given a PhotoPass ticket. You may keep the PhotoPass ticket within 1 month. It can be accessed in this web here to redeem the photograph.

After passing through the main street area, U.S.A you will find 3 lanes.
1. Fantasyland
2. Tomorrowland
3. Adventureland

Area behind the castle's will lead the way to Fantasyland. There are many rides that can be played together with the children in this area. We actually spent most of our time here in Fantasyland.

If you choose to turn left you will head to the Adventureland area
And if you choose to turn right you will go to Tomorrowland area.

My comment is it is not advisable to go in the summer season, as there will be a lot of tourists. Mainly tourists from Mainland China will dominate the park. Queues in each of the rides will always be long. Also the weather is too hot during the queue, as there are some queue area are no shelters.

Strollers are also not allowed when you queue up and have to park at the designated area. The queue is also not in order. There are some people who cut our queue without any guilty. And some people are pushing us, the gap between our queue is too close.

Unlike the park in Korea, we experienced a great queuing line system, where they make a single line for people who queue so there is no chance for people to cut queue. But I think, they do have queue manner itself.

These are some rides in Fantasyland that we can play, because the queue is not too crowded.

2. Cinderella Carousell
3. Mad Tea Hunter
4. It's a small world
5. Winnie the pooh

There are several performances and parades held at Disneyland Hongkong, but we only able to watched 2 shows.

1. Festival of The Lion King
Performance time: 12.00 PM; 2.00 PM; 4.30 PM; 6:00 PM

2. Mickey and the Wondrous Book
Performance time: 11.45 AM; 1.00 PM; 3.45 PM; 5.15 PM; 6.30 PM

The parade will also be held twice in the day and night.
Day at 1:30 PM,
Night at 7:00 PM.
The fireworks will start at 08.00 PM (this firework schedule will changed at any time, when we came that time the fireworks started at 09:00 PM).
For more details for the theme of the parade can be seen here.

Our advice is if you want to watch these 2 shows, you should catch the show of Mickey and the Wondrous Book first because the seating for this show is limited and a lot of Disney characters will be performed here. The story is about Mickey's adventure in a magical book.
Please make sure you arrived at least half an hour before the show starts.

After the shows over you can continue catch the show from Lion King. These two performances are actually a musical performances so there will be a lot of Disney songs played here. The show will be shown in two languages : English and Cantonese. Except for Mickey, the main language is Cantonese, but there are subtitle in English beside the stage.

For the Lion King show itself there are several seats available. Simba, the main character from Lion King will be facing towards the entrance. So if you want to see directly towards this lion, you should sit next to the entrance.

Disney character stores are located in some areas. The Main Street shops has the most complete Disney's characters. As for other areas, is mainly selling the main character for that area. Below Store are located in the Fantasyland area.

This area is called Tomorrowland.

The newest area of Disneyland is the Toy Story Land, which is great to visit when it gets dark because there are rides with lights. To reach this place you have to go passing the Fantasyland area.

Disneyland Hong kong also has applications that can be installed in our mobile phone. The name of the application is Hong Kong Disneyland by Disney. Click here to install the app.

In the application there is also an estimation on the each rides queuing time. But I do not think the time is updated in real time. Because the queue time listed in each rides is different from the one shown in the application. But you can access the map easily as well as showtimes and photos together.

Thank you for reading ♡
